A Quick One

Hey guess what? The other night I found out that my kids (first graders) play dodgeball in PE at school.

This is good. I thought that the Nice Police had dodgeball banned everywhere.

No. Dodgeball sucks. This isn't about self-esteem, it's about making kids feel terrible about themselves. OK, so maybe it is about self-esteem. Tough. It's stupid and I hate it hate it hate it.

Excellent!

I thought that dodgeball was the root of all evil according to all school boards in the US. I guess the administration at your kid's school didn't get the memo.

In fact I just heard on a radio talkshow that some school had recently banned tag. ("Here Johnny and Suzy, you can sit here on this soft, safe cushiony chair for recess and read this soft-bound book.")

(As you may recall) I stunk at dodgeball, and would usually be knocked out in record time and sport a glowing red rasberry in the shape of the ball for the rest of the day... and yet it was still fun. Especially when I saw the kids I hated get beaned right in the face by the most powerful thrower! Heh, heh, heh. ("Is that wrong?")

Glad to hear your kids are getting to experience the fun (and horror) of dodgeball.

"Let them play! Let them play! Let them play!"

My first grader stated to me last week that they can't play any "chasing" games at school.

He doesn't seem to bothered by it.
